Cult Industrial/Metal band Ministry come to Rome on the 1st August (2018) to take part in the 'Roma Incontra Il Mondo' (Rome Meets The World) festival which takes place throughout the summer at the beautiful grounds of Villa Ada. Pioneers of the music genre normally referred to as Industrial, the band was formed in 1981 in Chicago, USA and has influenced many on the music scene, ranging from Depeche Mode to Nine Inch Nails. Their original sound was more Synth Pop than Industrial and in the early days the could be seen live supporting the likes of A Flock of Seagulls, Culture Club, and Depeche Mode. Mainstream commercial success never came to Ministry as such, they had several minor billboard hits, and where most popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s with three of their studio albums: 'The Land of Rape and Honey' (1988), 'The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste' (1989) and 'Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs' (1992), with the former of the two certified gold and the latter certified platinum in the USA. Throughout their career, Ministry has so far been nominated for six Grammy Awards, and performed at several notable music festivals, including participating in the second annual Lollapalooza tour in 1992 and co-headlining Big Day Out in 1995.
