The Rome Marathon 2016 takes place in the Italian capital on Sunday, the 10th April 2016. It must be one of the world's most picturesque marathons; starting off and ending at the Fori Imperiali, a 26-mile course that zigzags around some of the city's most famous tourist sights, including St. Peter's Basilica, the Mausoleum of Hadrian (Castel Sant'Angelo) and Piazza del Popolo. In 2016, 11,516 runners finished the marathon in what was unfortunately windy and rainy conditions. Ethiopia won first place for both the Men's and Women's Maratona di Roma 2015. Registration for the event is now closed, however fun runners can still register for the 'Roma Fun Run La Stracittadina', which is a 5-kilometre fun run or walk in which anyone can participate; classmates, grandparents and grandchildren, parents and children, pet owners and their pets and so forth! Last year about 50,000 ran in this non-competitive event and this year participants can register at the Marathon Village until the day before the race which starts shortly after the marathon.
Fun Run 'La Stracittadina' Details: registration fee: 8.00 Euros including an official T-shirt. Meeting point: 8:00am at Via Cavour. Start: 9:10am on Via dei Fori Imperiali. Finish: Circo Massimo.
